If you are looking for opportunities to sell
to Tasmanian Government agencies, here are some ideas on where to
start:
-
review the Tenders website at www.tenders.tas.gov.au;
- register your business on the Tenders section of the
Purchasing website and elect to receive automatic email
notification when anticipated or current tenders in categories of
interest to your business are advertised on the website;
-
review the Tasmanian Government Tenders section in the Saturday
edition of each of the daily Tasmanian papers - The Mercury,
The Examiner and The Advocate;
-
review the Tenders section in other Tasmanian and Australian papers
for information on tenders by other government organisations, eg
councils, the Commonwealth Government etc;
-
review the Agency Buying Directory on this website, which provides
information on which government agencies buy what products;
Making yourself known to the
relevant government buyers is very important as they can seek
quotes for certain value purchases rather than going to open
tender. When seeking quotes they will obviously only approach those
suppliers that they are aware of. See How Purchasing Works for further information on tender and
quotation thresholds.
-
review agencies' Annual Reports;
All agencies have to provide information
on individual contracts awarded with a value of $50 000 or
more during the relevant year. This will help you identify the
types of purchases made by individual agencies, as well as
identifying when periodic contracts may next be tendered. Annual
Reports are published on agency websites in late October to early
November of each year.
This lists whole-of-government common
use contracts, including information on when they expire.
