Pre-Qualification

What is pre-qualification?Back to Top

Pre-qualification is only required for Building Construction and Roads and/or Bridges consultants and contractors.

Pre-qualification is not required for Goods and Services suppliers.

Also known as registration, pre-qualification classifies you according to your expertise and capability in specific work categories within a specific financial range.

Pre-qualification is an assessment of your financial, managerial and technical resources and competence to execute and complete the work required.

Following a detailed assessment, you will be:

  • pre-qualified and registered in that category;
  • pre-qualified and registered in another category or financial range;
  • pre-qualified but with restrictions; or
  • determined as unsuitable for registration.

The results of this assessment will be advised to you in writing.

If you are dissatisfied with the assessment outcome, and wish to have the decision reviewed, you can lodge an appeal.  Your assessment notification will include information on how to appeal, whom to contact and any time limits that are applicable.

Biennial ReviewBack to Top

Pre-qualification is for two years.  Building construction consultants and contractors will be advised in writing when their registration is due for renewal.  Renewal requests for road and/or bridge consultants and contractors are advertised in the newspaper.  At any time during this two-year period, you may apply for an upgrade to your existing pre-qualification.

To review the information that you need to provide to pre-qualify, see how to register as a Building Construction Contractor, Building Construction Consultant, Roads and Bridges Contractor or Roads and Bridges Consultant.
